The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) conducts the Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services Examination, commonly known as the UPPCS (Uttar Pradesh Provincial Civil Services) examination. UPPCS Examination Syllabus and Selection Process

1. Preliminary Examination:

General Studies Paper I:

This paper includes topics like History of India and Indian National Movement, Indian and World Geography, Indian Polity and Governance, Economic and Social Development, Current events of national and international importance, General Science, and General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity, and Climate Change.

General Studies Paper II (CSAT):

It includes questions on Comprehension, Interpersonal skills, Communication skills, Logical reasoning and analytical ability, Decision-making and problem-solving, General mental ability, Basic numeracy, and Data interpretation.

2. Mains Examination:

The Mains examination consists of a written examination with nine papers, which are:

General Hindi (Qualifying Paper):
Candidates need to obtain at least 33% marks in this paper. It tests the candidate's understanding of the language and their ability to write in Hindi.
Essay:
Candidates have to write two essays on given topics, each carrying 125 marks.
General Studies I:
This paper covers History of India, Indian National Movement, Indian and World Geography, Indian Polity and Governance, Economic and Social Development, and Current events of national and international importance.
General Studies II:
It includes questions on General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity, and Climate Change, and General Science.
General Studies III:
This paper focuses on Technology, Economic Development, Bio-diversity, Environment, Security and Disaster Management.
General Studies IV:
This paper examines the Ethics, Integrity, and Aptitude in Public Administration.

Optional Subject Paper I: Candidates can choose one optional subject from the list provided by the UPPSC, and this paper is the first part of the subject examination.
Optional Subject Paper II: This is the second part of the subject examination.

3. Personality Test (Interview):

This is the final stage of the UPPCS selection process. It assesses the candidate's personality, leadership qualities, communication skills, and knowledge of current affairs.
