History of Hyderabad Civil Services Committee

The Hyderabad Civil Service Committee was set up by firemen in 1919 and the Hyderabad Public Service Commission was set up by a fireman on 27 April 1947, following the model of the British Provincial Public Service Commission, with a chairman and four members.

The establishment of the commission was an important milestone during the Asaf Jahi regime and brought the entire administrative machinery of the civil services of the Nizam's state in line with modern times and the Hyderabad Civil Service was considered a prestigious and elite service in those days.
