The regions are further divided into twelve Coast Guard 'districts', one each in nine coastal states on the mainland, two in the Andaman and Nicobar region, and one in Kavaratti in the Lakshadweep and Minicoy Islands. Each Coast Guard district is comprised of one or more Coast Guard stations. In addition, there are Coast Guard Air Stations (CGAS) and Air Enclaves (CGAE) for air operations from various locations along the coastline.

Regional heads northwest

The regional heads (northwest) in Gandhinagar, especially the strategically important maritime state of Gujarat. The Gujarat state has its own district headquarters in Porbandar. The commissioned in 1984 is supported by stations of the district, Veraval, Mundra, Okha and Jokhau. Dornier aircraft and advanced lighting helicopters working with Porandar provide aerial support to the region.

Western Seaboard

Apart from Gujarat, the rest of the Western Seaboard is responsible for the Regional Headquarters (West) in Mumbai. In the region, Maharashtra coast is a major center of economic activity. This area is also sensitive due to the location of off-kanare oil platforms and nuclear power installations.

Fishing activities in the region

Fishing activities in the region are beyond the traditional fishing ground, which has increased the scope of ICG operations. Maharashtra has its own district headquarters in Mumbai, and a helicopter is supported by Squadron.

The district headquarters in Goa was commissioned in 1994. It is the first helicopter home of Squadron the Coast Guard (CGAS 800). The state of Karnataka has its own district headquarters in New Mangalore.

Regulating maritime activities along the Karnataka coast

The commissioned in 1990 is engaged in regulating maritime activities along the Karnataka coast. Kerala has its own district headquarters in Kochi, and is monitored and administered the Lakshadweep, which is performed by the district headquarters in Kavari. It is close to the C -Len of Communication (Slocs), followed by a large number of oil tankers, and therefore oil is a high -risk area in terms of pollution. Air support is provided by Kochi -based Dornier aircraft.
