JEE Main 2025 syllabus: Latest and Complete Syllabus of JEE Mains Exams 2025
JEE Main 2025 syllabus released by National Testing Agency (NTA) is an important resource for candidates preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main, a national-level entrance examination for admission to undergraduate engineering, architecture and planning programmer at prestigious institutes such as NITs, IIITs and other centrally funded technical institutes.
Conducted twice a year (Session 1 in January and Session 2 in April), the JEE Main 2025 syllabus is aligned with the NCERT syllabus for Class 11 and 12, with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics for Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.) and additional subjects for Paper 2A (B.Arch.) and Paper 2B (B.Plan.).
The syllabus is available in PDF format on the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in, and has undergone minor revisions as compared to previous years, with specific topics being removed to streamline preparation.
Physics Syllabus
The Physics syllabus consists of 21 units, divided into Section A (Theory, 80% weight-age) and Section B (Practical Skills, 20% weight-age). The core topics include Mechanics (Dynamics, Laws of Motion, Work, Energy and Power), Thermodynamics, Waves and Oscillations, Electromagnetism (Electrostatics, Electric Current, and Magnetic Effects), Optics, and Modern Physics (Atoms, Nuclei, Semiconductors).
In 2025, topics such as Scalar and Vector, Vector Addition/Subtraction, and Unit Vector have been removed from Kinematics, thereby reducing the scope of preparation. Experimental skills include practical aspects such as Vernier Caliper, Screw Gauge, and Simple Pendulum Experiments.
Chemistry Syllabus
Chemistry is divided into three sections: Physical Chemistry (10 units), Inorganic Chemistry (8 units), and Organic Chemistry (10 units), a total of 28 chapters.
The main topics include Atomic Structure, Chemical Bonding, Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, Redox Reactions, Basics of Organic Chemistry, Hydrocarbons, and Coordination Compounds.
Topics removed in previous years, such as Surface Chemistry, States of Matter, S-Block Elements, Hydrogen, Environmental Chemistry, Alcohols, Phenols, Ethers, and Polymers, will also be removed in 2025, allowing students to focus on higher-weight areas such as Organic Reactions and Physical Chemistry Calculations.
Mathematics Curriculum
Mathematics consists of 16 units, emphasizing Algebra, Calculus, Coordinate Geometry, Trigonometry, and Three-dimensional Geometry. The core topics are Sets, Relations, and Functions, Complex Numbers, Quadratic Equations, Matrix and Determinants, Limits, Continuity, and Differentiability, Integrals, Vectors, and Probability.
The units Mathematical Induction and Mathematical Reasoning were already removed and are absent, making the syllabus more concise.
Paper 2A (B.Arch.) and Paper 2B (B.Plan.)
For B.Arch. (Paper 2A), the syllabus consists of Mathematics (same as Paper 1), Aptitude (Persons, Places, Buildings, Materials, 3D Visualization, Analytical Reasoning) and Drawing (Sketching Scenes, 2D/3D Conversion). The drawing test is conducted in pen-and-paper mode.
For B.Plan. (Paper 2B), the syllabus consists of Mathematics, Aptitude and Planning (General Awareness, Social Sciences, Infrastructure and Urban Planning Concepts), which are conducted entirely in computer-based test (CBT) mode.
Exam Pattern and Preparation
The JEE Main 2025 exam for Paper 1 consists of 90 questions (30 per subject), 20 MCQs and 10 numerical-value questions (5 to be solved) per section, for a total of 300 marks. The syllabus reduction, which has been continuing since 2024, is in line with CBSE/NCERT standards, and no new subjects have been added for 2025.
Candidates are advised to prefer NCERT textbooks, practice previous years' papers, and use mock tests available on nta.ac.in to familiars themselves with the exam pattern. High-weight-age topics like Mechanics, Organic Chemistry, and Calculus should be mastered for better performance.
The syllabus, accessible through jeemain.nta.nic.in, guides students to focus on relevant topics, ensuring efficient preparation for JEE Main 2025.
